CHINA ELEVATOR REGULATION AMENDMENT: The Chinese Ministry of the Interior's Construction and Planning Agency announced a new regulation that allows elevators to be constructed in buildings less than five stories tall. Previous regulations only allowed elevators in buildings six stories or taller. The amendment is a response to Taiwan's aging population, as elevators are important for the accessibility of the elderly and physically challenged. The amendment was put into practice in February.
